Residential care, plainly explained.

Residential care is the day-to-day support someone needs when living independently is no longer safe, comfortable, or manageable — but they don't need ongoing medical care from registered nurses.

A care team is on shift 24 hours a day, every day. They help with personal care (washing, dressing, toileting), medication administration, meals, mobility, and the dozens of small things that make daily life work. They also do something less talked about but just as important: company. Sitting with someone, knowing their story, noticing when they're not themselves.

Our weekly fee is genuinely all-inclusive. That means accommodation (a single occupancy room), all meals and drinks, 24-hour personal care, laundry of personal clothing, daily activities, and most consumables — toiletries, incontinence supplies, the everyday things families don't want to be invoiced for separately.

We also coordinate the things that sit alongside care: GP review, medication management, care plan reviews with family, and access to external professionals when needed.

The exact figures are on our fees page, and the estimator gives an honest range based on which home and what kind of care.

A few things sit outside the standard fee because they're personal choices: hairdressing, chiropody, private GP house calls, newspaper subscriptions, personal phone bills, and outings beyond the local area. These are typically arranged on request and billed at cost.

We also don't provide registered nursing care. If a resident's needs progress to the point where ongoing nursing input is required — for example, complex wound management, IV medication, or end-stage conditions needing continuous nursing observation — we'd help the family find an appropriate nursing setting.
